Got a Tip?

13 Movies To Watch In March: ‘Operation Fortune,’ ‘John Wick 4,’ ‘Scream 6,’ ‘Tetris,’ Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’ & More

Television might have more highly anticipated releases coming out in March, but the film world certainly isn’t slacking with an eclectic lineup that samples from a bit of every genre. There are superheroes in two ways, from the standard DC and major studio format to the bizarre with “Smoking Causes Coughing.” Multiple tough-to-watch coming-of-age stories have made the rounds on the festival circuit as well as high-profile science fiction films looking to attract a larger audience. It’s a weird month for cinema, even with festivals such as SXSW making their steady approach; but in this case, weird is good, as audiences get the chance to see a wide array of films from very different storytellers.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre”
Jason Stratham, Aubrey Plaza, Hugh Grant, and Josh Hartnett star in the latest film from Guy Ritchie, “Operation Fortune.” The action comedy follows an elite spy tasked with tracking down and stopping the sale of a deadly new weapons technology. The film marks the fifth collaboration between Ritchie and Stratham and the second time working with Grant and Hartnett.
Release Date: In theaters March 3 via Lionsgate.

Palm Trees and Power Lines
A quiet and painful story about sexual assault, “Palm Trees and Power Lines” is a harrowing watch from first-time feature filmmaker Jamie Dack. Written by Dack and Audrey Findlay, the film follows a teenage girl as she enters a relationship with a man twice her age. Lily McInerny, Jonathan Tucker, Gretchen Mol, and Auden Thornton star in the film, an adaptation of Dack’s 2018 short film of the same name. Our critic praised the film, writing, “Fearsome and fearless at the same time, “Palm Trees and Power Lines” practically dares viewers to watch what’s happening on screen without flinching.”
Release Date: In limited theaters and VOD March 3 via Momentum Pictures.

65
Directed by “A Quiet Place” writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the action thriller “65” follows the lone survivors of a catastrophic crash on Earth 65 million years ago as they must face dangers such as prehistoric creatures while trying to achieve their one chance at rescue. Adam Driver and Ariana Greenblatt as the two survivors, with Chloe Coleman and Nika King in supporting roles. Sam Raimi acts as one of the producers.
Release Date: In theaters March 10 via Sony Pictures Releasing.

Champions
Woody Harrelson and Kaitlin Olsen star in “Champions” from “Hall Pass” director Bobby Farrelly. Written by Mark Rizzo, the film follows Harrelson’s Marcus, a former minor-league basketball coach who receives a court order to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. The story then tracks him as he goes from initial hesitation to determination to see his new players succeed. The film is an adaptation of the Spanish-language film “Campeones” by Javier Fesser and David Marqués.
Release Date: In theaters March 10 via Focus Features.

Scream 6
The horror franchises continue to persevere with “Scream 6” arriving in theaters this month. Carrying over from the last film, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera return as the surviving sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter. Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin direct, with original franchise creator Kevin Williamson returning as executive producer. But the original franchise star Neve Campbell doesn’t return as Ghostface makes their way from the suburbs to New York City.
Release Date: In theaters March 10 via Paramount Pictures.
