Got a Tip?

11 TV Shows To Watch In August: ‘Nine Perfect Strangers,’ ‘Reservation Dogs,’ ‘What If?’ & More

The Chair
Sandra Oh is deserving of as many leading projects as she is given, especially as her other series, the BBC thriller “Killing Eve” has continually sidelined her character as the series has progressed. With Netflix’s The Chair” created by Amanda Peet and Annie Julia Wyman, Oh will once again get the chance to stretch her comedy muscles. Oh plays an English department chair at a major university who must deal with the trials and tribulations that the role brings her. The show also stars Jay Duplass and Holland Taylor
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on August 20 on Netflix.

Truth Be Told
Despite Apple TV+ receiving love for many of their titles such as “Ted Lasso,” “Mythic Quest,” and “For All Mankind,” there are still plenty such as the Octavia Spencer starring “Truth Be Told” that have almost entirely slipped under the radar. The second season of the drama which follows a true-crime podcaster’s search for justice follows Spencer’s Poppy as she dives into a new case that involves her childhood friend and media mogul Micah Keith – played by Kate Hudson. The series is based on Kathleen Barber’s 2017 novel “Are You Sleeping.”
Release Date: Season 2 premieres on August 20 on Apple TV+.

See
Despite receiving not-so-great reviews in its debut season with our critic calling it “…high-concept drudge that treats total nonsense like a life and death struggle the fate of the whole universe rests upon…” fans seemingly turned it on enough to warrant a second season. Jason Momoa stars in this fantasy series set in a future where humankind has lost the ability to see and is forced to interact in new ways. Things change however when a set of twins are born with sight and challenge the status quo. Alongside Momoa, the cast includes Hera Hilmar and Alfre Woodard
Release Date: Season 2 premieres on August 27 on Apple TV+.

Only Murders in the Building”
While seeing Steve Martin and Martin Short on the same cast list is hardly surprising, adding to the mix Selena Gomez certainly raises some eyebrows on just what tone the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building” is trying to achieve. The series follows the three leads as strangers living in the same building. All three share an obsession with true crime and all three suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one. The comedy series is created by Martin and John Robert Hoffman (“Looking,” “Grace and Frankie”) and co-stars Amy Ryan and Aaron Dominguez
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on August 31 on Hulu.
