Got a Tip?

10 TV Shows To Watch In June

Strange Angel
Synopsis: An rocket scientist in 1930s Los Angeles becomes the disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley.
What You Need To Know: One would think rocket science and occultism are two polar opposite spheres of knowledge, but reality truly is stranger than fiction.  Executive produced by Ridley Scott, created by Mark Heyman (“Black Swan”) and adapted from George Pendle’s book, Jack Reynor (“Detriot”) plays brilliant and ambitious 1930s rocket scientist Jack Parsons, who dreams expanding the boundaries of his field.  The lives of Parsons and his wife Susan (Bella Heathcote) take a drastic turn when they are drawn into the orbit of occultist Aleister Crowley (Rupert Friend), and he uses Crowley’s self-actualization techniques (while dabbling in his sex magic rituals) to fuel his dreams to reach the stars.
Release Date: June 14 CBS All Access

“Yellowstone”
Synopsis: A ranching family in Montana must face off against the multiple forces looking to encroach upon their land.
What You Need To Know: Following the tripleheader that was his screenplay for “Sicario” and his feature films “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River,” writer/director Taylor Sheridan has become a filmmaker to follow closely as he continues to build his voice and mold his stories into thrilling character studies. All of this to say that his latest series “Yellowstone” starring Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, and Gil Birmingham has piqued our interests. With such a tumultuous story at its center, we’ll have to wait and see if Sheridan is delicately able to tell this story of tension and potential violence.
Release Date: June 20 on Paramount Network

“GLOW”
Synopsis: The personal and professional lives of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are looking up, but new challenges and drama await in the wrestling ring.
What You Need To Know: Many were surprised with just how great of a hit the first season of the Alison Brie starrer “Glow” was but the timing was impeccable and the cast strong and the stories, character building and conflict pitch perfectly crafted that it’s more a surprise we didn’t expect to be swept up in their world. Season 2 is arriving at a time where the portrayal of strong, independent and hilariously messy women and the friendships they share are going to be celebrated even further. Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron all impressed last year and with even more at stake in season 2, we can’t wait to see where they take the characters next.
Release Date: June 29 on Netflix
